Samaritans provide aid to North Victoria car crash victims
Good Samaritans who came upon a North backroad accident this morning February 19, 2006 helped rescue four motorists hurt in the crash, including two critically injured woman trapped in the wreckage.
The single-car wreck occurred shortly after 11 a.m. right outside of Victoria Highway just east of El Paso. The driver of a 2004 silver GT Mustang, allegedly speeding and under the influence of alcohol, and minor depression lost control of her car as he attempted to negotiate a curve in the road, police said.
The car went onto the shoulder, struck a tree and flipped. The driver was ejected, and one of her four passengers was able to crawl free.
Another passenger was trapped inside the smashed car and the fourth was trapped beneath the Mustang.
All four motorists were woman ages 16,19,and 35, emergency workers said.
"The woman (Brittany, Kelsey, Breonna, and Terry) were dressed nicely, like for church," All had dresses on.
The situation beneath the overturned car looked dire.
"On first inspection it looked like (the woman under the car Kelsey Taylor) had been crushed," Mensching said. "she was pinned under the vehicle, but she was on the grass, and that is probably what saved her."
Because the police was able to get to that young woman quickly and determine that she was still alive, arriving on-duty firefighters knew immediately that the woman beneath the Mustang needed their attention first.
They had to free her — and fast.
"Usually, we would set up the Jaws of Life," Mensching said. But setting up the special equipment designed to pry metal from trapped bodies would take precious time
Emergency Medical Services workers then stabilized the woman from the wreckage and the two less critically injured woman Brittany Nelson age 16 and Breonna Nelson age 16 took an ambulence to Victory Hospital. Then they transferred them to a military helicopter, and the pilot flew them to the trauma unit at The Queens Medical Center.
Derrick Young, acting assistant chief of operations for EMS, said two of the woman were in critical condition Terry and Kelsey. A third was in serious condition, and the fourth seemed to have minor injuries, but that assessment was likely to be upgraded to serious, he said. Police later said that Miss Terry Nickole Nelson was in serious condition.
Police blocked off Victoria Highway for several hours this morning while investigating the wreck.
Sgt. Lorenzo Ridela of the traffic investigations unit, said that both speed, alcohol, and deprssion were factors in the wreck. He said none of the woman in the car were wearing seat belts.
All these four woman we hope are going to be fine two out of the four girls were drunk and one of them was under age and that was Kelsey Taylor age 19.

All of these girls that were involved in the car accident please pray for them because we know they are going to make it. Breonna Nelson age 16 born on November 28, 1989 waqs in the passanger seat and was able to crawl free not being able to move much but still made it. Terry Nelson age 34 January 15, 1971 was the driver and she was under alot of depression police said because she had a miscarriage and had been drinking Terry was thrown out of the vehical and in very serious condition having to be on a life support machine. Brittany Nelson age 16 February 12, 1990 was in the right backside seat and when the car flipped she got a piece of car metal stuck inside of her and had to be starflighted to Victoria hospital. Kelsey Taylor age 15 October 3, 1990 was in the left backseat and was thrown out of the car as well and smushed under the vehical. All of these girls did not have seat belts on but are still okay. And we hope they will all make it.

| docters and nurses say that Breonna Nelson should be able to get out of the hospital by Friday February 24, 2006. Terry Nelson they are not sure because she is in very bad condition. Brittany Nelson had had her surgery and is doing well able to breath and talk on her own she will be released February 24, 2006 as well. Kelsey Taylor will not be released as docters say if they can't help her that much anymore then they might lose her, so they are not sure when she will be able to get out of the Trama room. Visit Breonna in room 213 on the fourth floor in recocory Monday through Friday 12pm till 4pm and Saturday through Sunday 10am through 2pm you can visit Brittany Nelson as well in room 206 on the fourth floor in recovory at the visiting hours you can't visit Terry Nelson or Kelsey Taylor till they get in the recovory room
