STRUCTURE AND FUNCTION (we put the fun in function!) |
|
Don't abandon your structure and function- you WILL see it again, especially when it comes to medication administration. As you think about medication elimination, determine the pathway of excretion and see if you can trace it. Which organ(s) are targeted by that medication? How does that medication change normal function of the organ?
As we head into sterile procedures, you will be asked to identify landmarks for entry, in particular, urinary catheterization, so don't forget your structure & function.

Having fun with learning is a good way to remember things! Keep this in mind when doing teaching with your residents. Catchey phrases, breaking it down in a simple way can make the difference in them being compliant or not following through. |

|
Email me the landmarks for the deltoid muscle if you were administering an IM injection there. Also tell me:
* the maximum amount of medication that can be injected there for an adult
* the maximum amount of medication that can be injected there for an infant
* what would happen if the nurse were to use poor technique |

STILL LEARNING THOSE CONVERSIONS........ |
|
Try this one:
You have an order for 0.5 gm po bid
In the resident drawer is a 1 gm scored tablet.
How many or what portion of that 1 gm/tab should you administer? |
