The Offspring are a band from Orange County in LA. They are a punk band that was different from all other punk bands. They had a steady beat and had heavy metal roots through the begining of their careers. The Offspring started when Dexter Hollan began witha fascination with punk when his brother brought home a compilation CD. He decided he wanted to start a band. Greg and Ron were friends from highschool and began a band called the "Clowns of Death" The band didn't do so well and Dexter decided to start a new band hence the Offspring. Noodles later joined. Dexter is called Dexter for his book smarts and quick thinking with a Degree in Microbiology Dexter is the smartest one of the group. The Offspring. Now the Offspring released their first album with their label which they ahd gained which was Senator now the label didn't do well and the first album was released under a week album and had poor record distribution so just sat on the shelfs for a while during the middle of 1988. Then later on they decided to jump ship and became part of another better label. With a hedder who liked them. The offspring know him as Blacball because he would ask them to play the song blackball. The Offspring later became part of Epitaph records and then is when they became huge record wise. The Offspring then began to get big with their first self titles album "Offspring" which had great singles like "Jenifer lost the war" and "BeHeaded". Later on came the new album from the Offspring called "Ignition", now during "Ignition", which had such great singles as Ignition and hit them when they are down the Offspring had become part of NITRO records which was a label the was now owned by Dexter himself. Ignition did also very well but nothing could match the greatness that came with their next album "Smash" which had such great hits like "come out and play" Smash sold 1 million copies in the first week of its release! It was one of the most succesful releases by a group band. The Offspring then began to know that things were getting to be big! Next was another succesful album "Ixnay on the Hombre" meaning litterally down with the man but according to the band themselves "F*ck the man". This record was great it had great songs like "Mota" and "All i want". Which was another very succesfull album for the offspring. Now the offspring by now had already become big stars, they were also working on their newest album "Americana" which is a big difference from all of the other offspring albums. It was softer and a lot more mainstreem which was something that might change the offspring in either a bad way or maybe even in a good way. "Americana" had great singles like "Pretty Fly (for a white guy)" which is a song that is known all over the world, "Why don't you get a job?" and "Americana". The Cd is still doing well and will conitinue to do so. And their are also rumors that the Offspring are working on an album that will be live which would be very cool.
