This Just In......
As both men christen the hard-hitting "Rock Is Dead" tour, Rob
Zombie and Korn frontman Jonathan Davis are happy... but for very
different reasons.
For Zombie, the tour marks a new high water mark of independence
since leaving White Zombie. With a stage set that is somehow
bigger, bolder, and even more Zombie than the one he toured with
last year, this trek sees the singer reveling in his solo status, and
savoring every last drop of fake blood.
For Davis, this tour marks a sharp contrast to last year's Family
Values outing, when the singer says he was "in hell." While that
tour rolled on, seemingly marking a highlight in Korn's career,
Davis says that his Family Values days were filled with sleep,
depression, music, and panic attacks. This time around, Davis has a
clear head, a new openness, and a greater enjoyment of touring.
Also the loss of Hole in their tour with Manson....
This week's news that Courtney Love and
her pals in Hole would be leaving their
co-headlining tour with Marilyn Manson
came as less than a shock to most, but bad
news to many nonetheless.
"I don't think we can be really
surprised, when you take such
superstars and put them together,
they're not always going to get along at
least professionally and creatively,"
remarked Jerry Springer, a man who has
seen his share of failed relationships.
Though the two-month pairing ended after
only two weeks when Hole stepped off the
tour, the outing seemed like a good idea in
theory, as many celebrities would agree.
Hole's Hollywood following includes Jim
Carrey, Tom Hanks, Brad Pitt, Jennifer
Aniston, and Sarah Michelle Gellar (who
have all turned up at recent the band's
recent gigs), and many of Hollywood's
young guard had high hopes for the tour.
"The show was tremendous," Ben
Affleck told MTV News recently. "I
mean, Hole is brilliant. Courtney is like
a tremendous rock star. She's got
incredible presence on stage, and I dig
Manson."
"I like it," Drew
Barrymore told MTV
News recently of the
news that the two
would tour together. "I
mean, I don't know.
That's what a lot of
people keep saying,
like 'Wow, what do
you think about that?' and I'm like, 'Is
there something I don't know? I mean,
I know that they're both extraordinarily
tumultuous bands, but other than that,
there must be something I don't
know."
