Introduction- The three kingdoms

The Dynasty Warriors Series are based on a book written in China in about the year 1500 which tells the story of all of the corruption and chaos that roamed across ancient China (circa 200AD). Within The Imperial Court was plagued with strife as a religious group known as 'the way of peace,' aka; the yellow turbans began a rebellion against the Han forces of China. The Han forces were able to dispatch of this religion however the Han crumbled and numerous fantastic fighters rose up and gained personal power, gathering many talented officers and armies under their name. There were many who gained power, but the three main ones were Cao Cao, Sun Jian and Liu Bei. Only a couple of years after the yellow turban rebellion, disaster struck again as the protector of the imperial emperor, Dong Zhuo rose up and attempted to rule all of China. Cao Cao, seeing this as a major threat, organised an allied force under Yuan Shao, seeing both Sun Jian's forces and Liu Bei's forces fighting. Victory would have been easily achieved had it not been for Dong Zhuo's adopted son, Lu Bu, arguably the mightiest warrior ever to roam China, however, Lu Bu's ploys were effectively foiled and Dong Zhuo was forced to retreat. However, there was a ploy within Dong Zhuo's camp. Diaochan, a beautiful dancer put herself forward into Dong Zhuo's service. Her plot was to turn Lu Bu and Dong Zhuo against each other by tempting each of them. Her plan was successful and Lu Bu amb ushed and killed Dong Zhuo in the name of Diaochan. He then roamed the land with his followers and eventually settled in Liu Bei's camp...

Developing the three kingdoms

Liu Bei took to the devious and mighty Lu Bu and assigned him leader of a small region of his province, but it was not long before Lu Bu stormed the province and took it from Liu Bei. Liu Bei, with no where else to turn, sought the help of Cao Cao. His forces met Lu Bu's at the Xiapi stronghold. Lu Bu's malicious character caused mutiny within his camp and eventually his own officers arrested him and sent him to Cao Cao, who ordered him executed. After defeating Gongsun Zan and taking control over the He Bei region, Yuan Shao had become the most powerful figurehead in China. After taking the young Han emperor into his capitol of Xuchang, Cao Cao had also become a force to be reckoned with. Cao Cao first, after helping Liu Bei, attacked him, seeing him as a potential threat. Liu Bei took refuge with Yuan Shao and Cao Cao, in tghe process, captured Liu Bei's mighty warrior and sworn brother, Guan Yu. Cao Cao was set for a showdown with Yuan Shao. The honourable Guan Yu, in two battles, wanted to repay Cao Cao's kindness and so he killed Yuan Shoa's two fiercest warriors, Yan Liang and Wen Chou. his debt paid, Guan Yu left Cao Cao in search of his brother. And so began the battle of Guan Du; showdown between Cao Cao and Yuan Shao. Yuan Shao still had a bigger army, but when it came to the battle, both forces were standing on equal ground. As the battle went on, Cao Cao's forces pressed Yuan Shao's forces, and after a long battle, Yuan Shao retreated and died a few years later from illness, thus Cao Cao had become the biggest figure across central China. Even though Cao Cao was the most powerful figure in the land, there was still one person saw as a great hero and therefore a great threat and had to eliminate him. His name... Liu Bei. Meanwhile, in the Southland where Sun Jian resided, he battled the invader Liu Biao. Liu Biao was eventauly defeated but Sun Jian, having being led into a trap was killed. His eldest son, Sun Ce taking control of the Southlands. He certainly left his mark as he defeated every local threat to consolidate the entire Southlands under the Sun family banner but he too, tragically died at a young age. His brother, Sun Quan taking the helm.

Zhuge Liang and the Battle at Chibi

A man named Zhuge Liang was recommended to Liu Bei by two men. Zhuge Liang was a renowned scholar and said to be a 'sleeping dragon.' Liu Bei required a strategist if he was ever going to bring justice and peace to the land and so he paid three visits to Zhuge Liang. It was only on his third visit that Zhuge Liang was there to see him, who jumped at the idea of serving Liu Bei. His first act was battle aginst Cao Cao. Cao Cao sent his finest warrior, Xiahou Dun to battle Liu Bei, but using extraordinary tactics, Zhuge Liang burned the entire force with only Xiahou Dun and a few others surviving. Cao Cao, still having the largest force in the land, was clearly seen as a potential threat by all other leaders. Sun Quan requested an allegiance between himself and Liu Bei to battle Cao Cao. Liu Bei sent Zhuge Liang to aid their cause. The battle was to be naval. Sun Quan's forces were expert in this field and Cao Cao's were not, but Cao Cao had suge a huge militia that it required a miracle for him to be defeated. A plan was hatched for the veteran southland warrior, Huang Gai to make a false surrender to Cao Cao. He was to be seen being beated by Southland officials and then banished. He set sail as Cao Cao's huge fleet headed for Sun Quan's; his ship filled with gunpowder- his aim was to burn Cao Cao's fleet and so their huge numbers would count for nothing. However the wind had to be blowing appropriately so Sun Quan's fleet would not suffer from the flames, too. The wind for the few previous nights had been blowiung the wrong way. The Southland strategist, Zhou Yu was being made incredibly oill over the anxiety that their ploy would fail, but Zhuge Liang remained suspiciously calm. The night of the battle, he prayed for the wind- it worked. The wind blew perfectly and Cao Cao suffered a famous and most unlikely defeat. The biggest force in the land suffered massive losses due to perfectly executed and ingenious strategies, forged by Zhuge Liang (who returned to Liu Bei) and Zhou Yu.
