Sociology
Sociology is about peoplehow they operate, react and interact in their everyday lives and under extraordinary conditions. Sociology is a social science that relies on a set of concepts that seek answers about us. Society, culture, roles, norms, social inequalities, minority groups, teens, values, conformity and deviance are some of the concepts that will be discussed. Sociology is the systematic study of human social behavior. Everyone knows some sociology and your thoughts and feelings will help us look beneath the surface to find why we do the things we do.

Psychology
In support of Jefferson County and Green Mountains mission, this Psychology class seeks to develop students knowledge, interests, and abilities in relation to the practice of psychology, and to facilitate students understanding of psychology from multiple perspectives. As active participants in the study of behavior and mental processes, the student will learn to think critically, reason scientifically, exercise ethical responsibility, be aware of diversity, and speak and write in the discourse of the discipline. These aims will be accomplished through the following: individual interactions (participation), Psychology Journals, Periodic quizzes (announced or unannounced), and Unit exams. With this foundation, students will become better prepared to develop their potential for lifelong learning. |
