| January 27 Apollo 1 crew killed |
| During a rutine test of the engines of the Apollo 1 entire crew was killed in a trgic accident. A fire broke out in the cab and was fueled by the oxygen rich enviorment, thought the recket was on the launch pad it took ten minutes for them to get through the hatch. By that time all three astronauts were killed these included: Gus Grissom, Roger Chaffee, and Edward White ( the first American to space walk). |
