| Area 51, also known as a secret military base about 90 miles north of Las Vegas. The base is a 6 by 10 mile block of land,at the center of the base is a large air base. The site was selected in the mid 1950's so they could test the U-2 spyplane.and since it was out in the middle of nowhere they could use the dry lake bed for landings. The facility and surrounding areas are also associated with UFO and conspiracy stories. In 1989, Bob Lazar said that he had worked with alien spacecraft at Papoose Lake. Which is south of Area 51. After that "Area 51" became a popular symbol for the U.S. Government UFO cover-up.
